Photographing Private Aviation: A Look Back

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to photograph a wide range of aircraft in the private aviation sector. This has included private jets, helicopters, and chartered aircraft, with most of the work created for marketing purposes or to support aircraft sales.

In private aviation, photography has a clear job to do. The images need to show the aircraft accurately and professionally, helping people understand its condition, layout, and features. The goal isn’t to over-style the images, but to present the aircraft clearly and honestly.

Many of these shoots take place in hangars or on airfields, often within limited time windows. Lighting, reflections, and angles all need careful attention, especially with highly polished aircraft and compact interiors. A simple, considered approach helps ensure the images remain true to life.

Different aircraft call for different areas of focus. With private jets, there is usually a balance between exterior shots and detailed interior images. Helicopter shoots often focus more on practicality and how the aircraft is used, sometimes captured on location rather than in a controlled environment. In some cases, the brief also includes moments around the journey itself, such as arrival or boarding.

The images shared here are a selection of work produced over several years. Together, they show how private aircraft are photographed and presented, and why clear, professional imagery is important within the aviation industry.

This work sits within the wider transport portfolio of The Clikk Agency, alongside projects across hospitality, events, and commercial photography.
